    • Bunsen Peak Round trip 4.2 miles (6.7 km), moderately strenuous.
      The trail begins at the entrance of the Old Bunsen Peak Road Trail, 5.0 miles (8.0 km) south of Mammoth on the Grand Loop Road. Climb 1,300 feet (394 m) through forest to the summit, which features panoramic views. Return by same route. The nearby Old Bunsen Peak Road Trail is closed to vehicles but open for hiking and biking.

  • 8/6  (Wed.)  Seven mile  Hole  (9.8  miles),  add  Mt.  Washburn  for  advanced  hikers
  • 8:00am Canyon area: Seven Mile Hole  (9.8  miles round trip), if we have time then do South Rim Trail (optional, extra 4 miles). AddMountWashburn for advanced hiker (extra 4 miles)
    • Trailhead: Glacial Boulder pullout on the road to Inspiration Point.
      • 42 miles, 70 minutes
      • Take 89 east
      • Turn right onto Norris Canyon Road
      • Turn right onto Grand Loop Rd
      • Turn left onto the North Rim Drive and follow this one-way road toward Inspiration Point. The parking lot for the Glacial Boulder Trailhead will be on the left just before Inspiration Point. Parking in the pullout is easier if you loop past Inspiration Point and return to the parking area.

    • MountWashburn Round trip from Dunraven Pass 6.2 miles (5 km), from Chittenden parking area 5 miles (4 km), strenuous.
      • From an elevation of 10,243 feet (3,107 m), MountWashburn offers panoramic views of about 20 to 50 miles (32 to 80 km) in all directions.
      • During July, wildflowers carpet the slopes. Look for bighorn sheep. The southern trail starts at the Dunraven Pass Trailhead and the northern trail starts at the Chittenden Road parking area. Both climb steadily about 1,400 feet (425 m). Conditions at the summit are typically colder and windier than at the trailheads, and afternoon storms are common.
      • Carry an extra layer of warm clothing and wind/rain gear.

  • 8/7  (Thurs.)  Old  Faithful  area:  hike  to  Fairy  Falls  &  Twin  Buttes  &  Lower  Geyser  Basin  (7  miles), easy

    • FairyFalls, 200 feet (61 m) high, is one of Yellowstone's most spectacular waterfalls.
    • 26 miles, 40 minutes
    • Shorter route: Park 1.0 mi (1.5 km) south of Midway Geyser Basin, cross steel bridge, walk 1.0 mi (1.5 km) to the trailhead.—This is what we are taking, I assume.
    • Longer route: Park at the end of Fountain Flat Drive and walk 1.75 mi (2.8 km) to the trailhead. From the trailhead, walk 1.6 miles (2.6 km) through a young lodgepole pine forest to the falls. You can continue 0.6 miles (0.97 km) to Spray and Imperial geysers. This adds 1.2 miles (1.9 km) to the hike.

    • 2:30pm Yellowstone Lake/West Thumb area: West Thumb Geyser Basin and Lake Overlook (2 miles round trip)
      • 24 miles, 35 minutes
      • West Thumb Geyser Basin; Parking area, ¼ mile north of West Thumb Junction.(See Yellow Stone map)
      • The trail begins at a trailhead marker near the entrance to the West Thumb Geyser Basin parking area and climbs through burned forest and a mountain meadow to a commanding view of Yellowstone Lake and the Absaroka Mountains. This trail is mostly level, with a moderately strenuous 400 foot (121 m) elevation gain near the overlook.

  • 8/8  (Fri.)  take  Jackson  Hole  aerial  tram  ($30)  to  Rendezvous  Mountain.  Take  the  Top  of  the  World  trail  (0.3  mile)  and  Rock  Spring  Loop  (4  miles).  advanced  hiker  hike  the  Granite  Canyon  back  to  valley  floor  (12.8  miles,  descend  4100  ft.)
  • 9:00am at Tram Base 30 minutes to trail head at 3395 Cody lane Teton Village
  • 6:10am meet at the trail head near the Base of Tram for hike up the Summit trail\

    • For those who prefer a shorter hike, you could take the shuttle boat cross Jenny Lake. This will save you about two miles of hiking one way.
    • The shuttle boat runs from 7:00am—7:00pm  once every 15 minutes and the duration is about 15 minutes. Cost $9.00 with senior(65+) discount.
    • 9:00-10:00 0.4 miles 250 ft EG Inspiration Point(7,400ft). Note that you will see Mt. Tetan(13,770ft), Mt. Owen(12,928ft) on the way up but not at Inspiration Point. Of course you will those pretty mountains again after you hike out of Inspiration Point forest.
    • 10:30-12:00return to Jenny lake and take south lake trail back to the trail head parking lot 2.5 Miles.
    • Or take North lake trail return to the parking lot. 4.4 miles about two and half hours(( we will assign a team leader for this since I will have to come down with the group for the trip to Glacier NP)

Via shuttle boat: 9.6 miles RT, 6 hours, 1220 ft total, climbing, Moderate-Strenuous. Popular trail leads into Cascade Canyon with views of the Grand Teton(13,770ft), Mt. Owen(12,928ft) and Teewinot(12,325 ft).
